I often say that one of my greatest purposes in life is to love God and to love others through all that I do. I had the honor of getting to (virtually) sit down with another woman who shares this same purpose: Francine Rivers, author of Redeeming Love.
Redeeming Love (the book) came out almost 30 years ago, but it has recently been turned into a movie, and you guys, it is one that has forever changed my life! Without giving too much of the storyline away, Redeeming Love revolves around the horrors of Human Trafficking, and the idea of unconditional love. Paralleling the Old Testament book of Hosea in the Bible, Redeeming Love is a Christian Fiction story based on the prophet’s decision to marry a harlot, Gomer, as he feels this is what God called him to do. Later, Gomer proves to be unfaithful to Hosea, but Hosea, out of covenant love, pursues her and restores their relationship (checkout Hosea 1-3). What I love about this historical narrative is that it illustrates how God pursues each of us: the sexually-broken, the wounded, the ashamed, the prideful, the selfish, the disobedient — all of it! Even when we turn from Him, in Christ, he continuously redeems, forgives, and accepts us!
If you follow me on social media or know me personally, you know how passionate I am about the fight against Human Trafficking. It is one of the greatest honors of my life to be able to fight alongside my husband, Tim, and the Tim Tebow Foundation. This conversation with Francine was an honor to participate in, as Francine is also passionate about the fight against Human Trafficking. She said, “There is power in coming together and fighting for something much bigger than ourselves.” I totally agree!
Recently, the Redeeming Love Sanctuary Foundation was created in which proceeds from the movie go towards establishing preventative measures to stop sex trafficking and abuse by funding survivor support services, education and recovery programs in the United States and abroad. It takes all of us to start a chain reaction and I am grateful to have Francine in the fight alongside us.
To join us in this fight and start an even bigger movement, check out the Rescue Team where you’ll be able to raise your voice for those who need it most!
If you guys haven’t been able to see Redeeming Love in theaters yet, I have exciting news for you! Redeeming Love is now available to stream on demand at redeeminglovemovie.com and I would highly encourage you all to watch this movie. I truly think it is a storyline that will change the way (or deepen) how you view God’s love. If you want to listen to my and Francine’s full interview, click HERE.
Last thing – My prayer for each of you is that you know how immensely loved, valued, and cherished you are by the Creator of this Universe! 🙂 Now, go out and share that same gift with others!
